Waycroft-Woodlawn's well-deserved moniker as the "Garden Spot of Arlington" stems from a unique, almost magical atmosphere created by a plethora of towering trees, abundance of natural wildlife, and wide variety of established flora and fauna. We also are very proud of peaceful, bucolic Woodlawn park with its meandering creek and new playground equipment. An influx of young children in recent years has put this equipment to good use! OUR ASSOCIATION WWCA is a non-profit volunteer organization created to preserve, enhance, and plan for the orderly development of the Waycroft-Woodlawn neighborhood. The civic association is guided in its work by overall community interests. Underlying the association's existence is the importance of influencing various issues that may impact our neighborhood, both short and long term. Current issues range from dealing with traffic problems to mitigating the impact of re-construction of a recently collapsed freeway retaining wall on the adjoining streets, homes, and residents. Our association is very active in Arlington county affairs through membership on civic-minded boards, commissions, and other groups. It is part of the "Arlington Way". WWCA holds meetings monthly from September thru May or June. Most meetings include a mixture of business and informative or entertaining programs, such as landscape gardening, home remodelling, or local history. WWCA also sponsors various social events throughout the year including the annual 4th of July picnic and parade, Winter Holiday Children's party, joint Hospice/WWCA spring plant sale, and community yard sale. |
